Competition entry for the international competition "Rethinking Playground", organized by Lappset in 2009. The aim of the competition was: "The aim of The Lappset International Design Competition is to challenge traditional playground concepts. Lappset is looking for new, inspiring, brave and out-of-the-box ideas for future playgrounds.

The core idea is to create a meeting point that unites three different generations; children, teens and the elderly."

Competition entry description.

Instead of beinig a piece of play-equipement, MelodySteps causes creativity and social interaction by motivating players to create their own melodies There is no restriction in the number of players nor in their age.

Rules are simple: walking or jumping on the wooden boards makes the steel rods strike on the steel hollow tubes and then sound is created.
